From 2008 to 2024, my studio was known as Scandal Studios. In 2024, I renamed it to Omni Recordings. Why? Because I no longer record scandalous music 😉.
More importantly, I’m a big fan of omnidirectional microphones. They capture music in a pure and honest way, with a fuller low-end response compared to other pickup patterns like cardioid or figure-of-eight. They capture sound sources as they exist in their natural environment, which means: the room has to sound great too. Another reason for the name change is the wide range of disciplines I work in. From music production to boom operating, Omni reflects that I’m not focused on just one thing.
MUSIC PRODUCTION
In my studio in Amersfoort, I have full access to my gear. As a trained keyboardist and studio engineer, I play and record myself, or record other musicians. I produce music for both artists and film, and I mix using a combination of hardware and plugins.
FIELD RECORDINGS
With my mobile setup -including the Sound Devices 788T, CL-8 mixer, and a range of microphones- I record music on location, anywhere. Mixing is done using both hardware and plugins.
DOCUMENTARY
With my Sound Devices 788T, CL-8 mixer, Schoeps CMIT & CCM8 in a Cinela blimp with Ambient boompole, dual Audio Ltd. & Sennheiser wireless sets with Sanken Cos-11 radio mic’s and Tentacle timecode, I record on location for documentaries and other media.
